Cookie Policy

Cookies are small values stored by a website in your browser and sent back with later requests. Similar browser storage such as local storage is stored separately and is not a cookie.

The application uses the `sc_session` cookie to identify a signed-in account for server requests. It is HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, and Secure in production. It expires after up to 30 days and is cleared when you sign out.

The session cookie contains a session token, not your password. The server checks that token against a session record and its expiry. The application also stores a login token in local storage for its client-side API flow; this browser storage is not a cookie.

The selected language (`sc_lang`), theme (`soilcredit-theme`), and home-page intro preference are stored in local storage, not cookies. The reusable sidebar component contains code to write a `sidebar_state` preference cookie, but that component is not currently used by the application routes.

The application code does not include analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies or services. This may change if the site adds such services; this policy should then be updated and any legally required consent obtained before they are used.

You can view, block, or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking `sc_session` prevents account sign-in from being maintained. Clearing local storage resets saved language and theme preferences.

The session cookie lasts up to 30 days. The sidebar preference cookie is not set by the application routes currently in use. Local-storage preferences remain until changed or cleared by you or your browser.
